The following outlines the qualification process necessary to become a CPSA Academy Tutor:
Coaching / Instructing
The potential candidate will be appointed by the Education and Steering Committee subsequent to consultation with the senior regional tutor, as either a CTC (L2) or ITC (L1) Tutor Trainee.
CTC (L2) Trainee: A L2 trainee will a current CPSA member who has passed all of the level 2 coaching courses i.e. Sporting, English Skeet and Trap and will undergo training to enable them to tutor both CPSA ITC and CTC courses. The requirement for qualification after this training process will be to present a portfolio of five separate successful assists (4 in region and a further 1 from another region) to the Technical Advisory Group for consideration to appointment as a CTC (L2) Tutor.
ITC (L1) Trainee: A L1 trainee will be a current member who has passed the ITC and at least one, L2 coaching course e.g. either in English Sporting, English Skeet or Trap and will undergo training to enable them to tutor the CPSA ITC courses. The requirement for qualification after this training process will be to present a portfolio of five separate successful assists (4 in region and a further 1 from another region) to the Technical Advisory Group for consideration to appointment as a Junior Tutor.
To qualify as an assessor of either ITC or CTC, the candidate will have to be a qualified tutor at the requisite level and undergo five assists (at the level required) where they will shadow a qualified Senior Assessor and input their assessment of a candidates ability. Qualification as an L2 assessor will qualify the candidate to assess CTC and ITC assessments but L1 assessors will be qualified to assess ITC candidates only.
Referee Tutor
The potential candidate will be appointed by the Education and Steering Committee subsequent to consultation with the Senior Regional Referee Tutor.
A Referee Tutor trainee will be a current CPSA member who has passed all of the domestic referee courses i.e. ESP, ESK, DTL and ABT and will undergo training to enable them to tutor all disciplines. The requirement for qualification after this training process will be to present a portfolio of five separate successful assists (4 in region and a further 1 from another region) to the Technical Advisory Group for consideration to appointment as a Regional Tutor (Referee).
Safety Tutor
The potential candidate will be appointed by the Education and Steering Committee subsequent to consultation with the Senior Regional Tutor (Safety).
A Safety Tutor trainee will be a current CPSA member who has passed the Safety Officer Course and will undergo training to enable them to tutor that course including the practical assessment. The requirement for qualification after this training process will be to present a portfolio of five separate successful assists (4 in region and a further 1 from another region) to the Technical Advisory Group for consideration to appointment as a Regional Tutor (Safety).
Validation of an assist
The duration of an assist will normally be one day and observed by one senior tutor i.e. multiple observations by numerous tutors on the same day will count as one assist only.
