An excellent introduction into the world of clay target shooting, ideal for those new to shooting clays and/or game.
The Shotgun Skills course will teach you the skills, knowledge and understanding so that you can use the shotgun confidently and most importantly safely. The course includes lunch and up to 50 clays and cartridges.

A progressive and flexible programme to introduce students to all aspects of their chosen discipline; from rules to developing skills and techniques to improve scores.
A discipline specific course for Shotgun certificate holders to improve your skills and ability in your chosen discipline. The course includes lunch and up to 100 clays and cartridges.

The Safety Officer Course is a one-day course which provides the basis for running a safe and successful shooting ground and looks at safe gun handling, layout management, risk assessments etc. An obvious choice for ground owners and a prerequisite to Club Affiliation, it also appeals to the shooter and is the first step to our higher Instructor & Coaching qualifications.
To qualify the attendees to act as a Range Safety Officer at CPSA Affiliated Club level
Candidates must be CPSA members and a minimum of 18 years of age.
Available in each of the four domestic disciplines of English Sporting, English Skeet, Down the Line and Automatic Ball Trap, these one-day courses will equip you with the general and discipline specific rules to enable you to referee regularly at registered competitions or national championships and, with it, the assurance that what you are calling is correct. This is also an excellent course for the competitor who doesn't necessarily want to referee, but does want to ensure that they know the rules when they compete.
To successfully qualify as a CPSA referee. If successful the candidate will have the necessary knowledge to referee at CPSA registered events. They will also be awarded a certificate and both a cloth and metal badge.
Candidates must be CPSA members and a minimum of 18 years of age. A CPSA Referee only membership is available for current non-members via http://www.cpsa.co.uk/membership or contact HQ on 01483 485400 for assistance. Referee Membership cards will be issued on successful completion of the course. Please note, it is not a requirement to be a Shotgun Certificate holder to attend this course!
The Instructor Development Workshop is a one-day course and a prerequisite to attending the four-day Instructor Training Course. Candidates will be given an overview of the full four-day course and be assessed for their suitability to progress onto the ITC. Candidates must have attended a Safety Officer Course.
To acquaint the Instructor candidate with the knowledge and procedures required to successfully complete an Instructor Training Course (ITC), and to provide an assessment of the candidate's readiness to attend the ITC.
Minimum 2 years shooting experience; have qualified as a Safety Officer; Must hold a shotgun certificate.
This course will teach you how to check eye dominance and gun fit, show you how to teach the CPSA Method and how to recognise shooting errors and correct them. The course lasts for four days and consists of classroom time, off-and on-range workshops and a final day of assessments. For the Level 1 Instructor Training Course, the criteria for qualification is that the candidate can get a novice to hit a moving target safely using the CPSA Method.
To provide the candidate with the required knowledge, procedures and skills, and to assess their ability, to safely teach beginners how to shoot using the CPSA Method.
Minimum of 2 years shooting experience; Have attended an Instructor Development Workshop within the previous 2 years; Have qualified as a Safety Officer within the previous 5 years; Must hold a shotgun certificate
During the Coach Development Workshop, the participant will be introduced to the general skills that all Coaches must possess regardless of their chosen discipline for example: General Coaching Technique Shooting Methods Gun Fitting Cartridges, Chokes and Pattern Testing Sports Psychology The course concludes with a theory exam.
The 3-day Coach Development Workshop is a combination of the Common Element & discipline specific workshops to provide general coaching knowledge and specific technical knowledge in preparation for the Coach (L2) Training Course (CTC), and to provide an informal assessment of the candidate's readiness to attend the CTC in their chosen discipline.
Instructor Training Course Qualification & Safety Officer Qualification. A Referee Qualification in the chosen discipline must be completed by the full Coach Training Course.
The Discipline Specific course is, in reality, three optional courses: Trap, Skeet or Sporting that cover the domestic versions of each discipline. Candidates will be introduced to the knowledge and skills specific to their chosen discipline. The course concludes with a theory exam and three practical assessments covering both general and discipline specific coaching skills.
To develop the candidate's discipline specific coaching knowledge and skills beyond those of an instructor, and to assess these, and the experience that the candidate has gained since completing both their Instructor qualification and Common Element course, and to ensure that they are capable of improving the performance of classified shooters in both the domestic and equivalent International discipline(s) of choice.
In order to attend a coaching course, at least a year must have elapsed between the L1 and the L2 course or one L2 course and another. Also the candidate must have completed the 3 day Common Element which includes the 3 Coach Development Workshops in ESP, ESK & Trap and qualified as a Referee in their chosen discipline. Those who have previously completed a 2 day Common Element will need to complete a one day discipline specific Workshop prior to attending the CTC.
