England Sporting Selection change

After a review from the English Sporting Sub Committee and the Board it has been decided to make a positive change in selection for 2026 and beyond.

We will now be selecting the team based on the previous years scores. We believe this will be beneficial to those going for the England team due to the following reasons:

  • Spreading the shoots out over the full calendar year.
  • Includes our 2 major sporting championships EO & BO ESP
  • Allowing team members time to train and bond with fellow team members
  • Allowing team members time to save for the England team competitions Home Internationals / WESP
  • Allowing the team time to prepare around commitments.
  • Arrange shooting days for team members to get together for training & promotion
  • Helps with team kit for both CPSA HQ suppliers/stock and also the England team member to “wear in”.

Please see below the new process:

The team will be selected using shoots from the previous year.

There are 7 selection shoots that run between March and September each year. One is held in each CPSA Region.

We also include the English Open Sporting and British Open Sporting as part of the selection.

Scores are submitted after the last shoot but the best 5 from 7 scores may only be needed to count.

In the event of a tie for a place in the England Team, the highest score from the British Open will be used to decide the place.  If the tie still exists a count back from a Selection Shoot attended by all parties concerned will be used to decide the place.”
