Home International Sporting 2024
Home International Sporting 2024 – Scotland
This event was held at the National Shooting Centre, Wester Jawcraig, Falkirk on Saturday 14th September 2024.
The targets were vetted on Friday afternoon following the announcement of the squads. Stuart Cummings and his team did a fantastic job, and after reviewing the targets, it was predicted by the managers that a score of 94 would likely be the high mark.
Saturday morning's weather was a bit unsettled, with a few sharp showers, but most of the team managed to stay dry. The afternoon brought glorious, though chilly, weather, while the shoot-off was accompanied by heavy rain - although conditions remained bearable.
The new caps enjoyed themselves, though some experienced nerves, as to be expected in such a significant event.
A special thanks goes to all the teams who entered, not just the English. These Home Internationals demand a great deal of time and commitment from everyone involved.
Congratulations to the following individuals:
- Billy Baughan, who shot the joint high gun score of 93, tied with Scotland’s Tom Young and Stuart Donaldson. After a thrilling shoot-off, Stuart took the overall win, with Tom as runner-up. Billy claimed the titles of English High Gun and Senior High Gun.
- Harry Dickens and Kallum Burrell faced off in a Junior shoot-off, with Harry taking both the Overall High Gun and English High Gun.
- Lara Dale (Ladies) went head-to-head with Scotland’s Edith Barnes, with the competition going down to the last peg. Lara emerged as the Overall High Gun and English Ladies High Gun.
- Richard King was the overall winner of the Veterans and took the England High Gun title.
- Glenn Hunt bested Adrian Balham in a shoot-off to take the Overall Super Vets title and English High Gun.
England triumphed across all team categories, including the Overall Team win. Congratulations!
Thanks to Phil Easeman, the England Team Manager, for this report.
