CPSA General and Technical Rules Addendum (Update)
In relation to the recently announced General & Technical Rules Addendum, specifically in connection with prohibiting the use of semi-automatic shotguns in our home disciplines of DTL & ABT, the CPSA Board of Directors have decided to review the prohibition.
This decision followed the ISSF ban of semi-automatics in OT & OSK on the basis of potential safety concerns. However, following further examination of those concerns, we will seek to determine to what degree they may be relevant to the CPSA and, if necessary, what mitigations may be appropriate in order that semi-automatic shotguns can be used once again in DTL & ABT.
This review will be conducted over the next few weeks with the intention of informing the membership following the next Board Meeting on the 8th of May.
We thank those members that have engaged in a constructive manner regarding this matter, whilst understanding safety must always be paramount in the decision-making process.
