There are 60,000 out of hospital cardiac arrests every year in the UK and less than 1 in 10 will survive, this is likely because ‘every minute that passes without CPR and Defibrillation your chances of survival reduce by 10%’. British Heart Foundation.
The CPSA has always been and will continue to be, committed to the well-being and health and safety of its members. It is for this reason and those stated above that we are pleased to say we are now participants in the Countryside Defibrillator Initiative, the aim of which is to provide defibrillators into those areas that simply, by their location, may not get the emergency help required in that 10 minute window. All defibrillators supplied by Defib Plus are classified as Public Access Defibrillators and are specifically designed for use by the layman, the uninitiated and untrained. These Automated External Defibrillator (AED) units give full audible and visual instructions throughout.
The initiative, which is being championed by a specialist supplier Defib Plus, are offering a 10% reduction on the cost of a defibrillator to all member clubs and individual members. This will typically bring the ex vat price down to under £1000 for a unit, but there’s more good news around their offering and some of the tax breaks available on the purchase of this equipment.
