In Memoriam: Dave Toomer
We are saddened to state that England DTL Team shooter Dave Toomer has passed away following a fight with cancer. Dave represented England in DTL 15 times from 2000 onward, at both DTL Home Internationals and European Championships.
His CPSA Championship victories include the 2020 English Open DTL Veteran High Gun, 2019 Dougall Memorial Veteran Third Place, 2019 British Open Single Barrel Veteran Runner-up, 2018 Dougall Memorial Veteran High Gun, 2018 English Open Single Barrel Runner-up and Veteran High Gun, 2018 British Open Single Barrel Veteran High Gun, 2015 Dougall Memorial Third Place, 2012 English Open Single Barrel Third Place, 2011 Sponsored DTL Champion, 2007 English Open DTL Third Place, and 2006 British Open Single Barrel Third Place.
Dave also coached and mentored other clay shooters and England DTL Team members, and was recently credited by 2021 England DTL new cap Charlotte Morris for helping her to make the England Team. He accomplished all of this whilst also working a career as a welder for a shipping firm in Southampton, and was regarded highly enough as a shooter to secure sponsorship from Eley Hawk.
Dave was a respected figure in the clay-target shooting community, and will be missed by all who knew him.
