England Team Selection & Home Internationals 2021

Dear CPSA members,

We are all looking forward to the opening up of our sport and CPSA registered shoots being able recommence from the 29th March, with a full competition calendar ahead of us as grounds begin to reopen and restrictions gradually ease. 
 
That’s great news for our sport, but it does bring challenges.  The latest government plan does not allow hotel stays until mid-May, leaving us to find a way to fit a full calendar into a condensed timeline with a limited number of weekends available for shooting.

We have already moved the English Open English Sporting and English Open English Skeet for this reason. Our staff have also been looking at the whole calendar with CPSA Championships, England Team selections shoots and Home Internationals in mind. 

Our goal was to not make shooters have to choose between a major Championship or a selection shoot. We have decided to make some changes to the calendar and selection process after consultation with shooters, team managers, and ground owners. 

We never take a decision lightly with regards to England team selection. In these exceptional circumstances we must consider many factors, including major competitions in Europe, GB Team shoots, and other major shoots both domestic and international. We have done our best to avoid forcing shooters to choose between one championship or another.

We are sure that you will all understand the reasons why we have had to make these changes. Our thanks go to our shooting grounds and sponsors for their understanding and continued support. Most importantly, we can all appreciate the fact that the end of the CV19 pandemic is in sight, and that our sport can safely reopen and we can hold a full competition season this year.
