England Success at Olympic Trap Home International
Extremely changeable conditions made for some challenging targets at the National Clay Shooting Centre on the 18 and 19 August 2017 for the 41st Olympic Trap Home International.
The England Senior team were captained by Mark Shaw along with team members, Chris Tate, Andrew Greenwood, Dave Sipling, Tim Connolly, Steve Ling, Richard Smith, and Shaun Porter.
Each squad had to deal with heavy rain and high swirling winds, which made the targets extremely unpredictable. However, team captain Mark Shaw led by example to give England a deserved victory in the seniors competition.

Overall High Gun was Mark Shaw from England with a score of 177/200, who also took the England High Gun, and the Captain’s Cup.
Ian O’Sullivan from Ireland was the Junior High Gun with a score of 176/200. Daniel Campey from England finished runner-up with 165/200, this was a creditable performance on his England debut, along with fellow New Cap Ruben Bowyer on 156/200.
Mike Wensley making his debut for England took the Veteran High Gun title with 163/200, Roger Westaway made it an England one, two in the Veterans a score of 153/200 to finish runner-up.
Mixed Team Event (Ladies, Juniors, Vets & Super Vets) was won by Ireland with the top four scores to count (646/800). The England team took the runners-up position with a score of 637/800. The team was made up by Andrea Swatts 147/200, Daniel Campey 165/200, Ruben Bowyer 156/200, Mike Wensley 163/200, Roger Westaway 153/200, Chris Wright 143/200 and Reg Toms 146/200.
The Banquet held at the McDonald Inchyra Hotel and was enjoyed by everyone and a special thanks must go to the staff who looked after the England Team extremely well all weekend.
