British Open Sporting & Sportrap 2023 (Day 1)
The first day of the CPSA British Open English Sporting and Sportrap had a rainy start with a light breeze, but then cleared up with the sun making an appearance later in the day and the shooters came off the course quite happy.
The prize draw started the morning, with a live random number generator picking Paula Sutherill as the lucky winner of a fantastic set of Teague chokes generously supplied by Teague Precision Chokes, Nigel Lane a Swatcom cartridge bag, James Robinson Eley cartridges and David Nester a Browning goody bag!
Feedback on the sporting was that it was a very enjoyable shoot and the ground looked superb, thanks to all of the hard work by Steve Lovatt from The Clay Shooting Company.
For most of the first qualifying day our top scorer was World Champion Sam Green, with a fantastic 110x120, but a last-minute entry from Tom Young put him at the top of the leaderboard in our Day 1 roundup with 111x120. Toby Reed and Phil Gray are tied for third, both with 108x120.
In the British Open Sportrap, Richard Faulds held his position at the top of the leaderboard for most of the day with 90x100, until Richard Bunning pulled ahead with a great 91x100. Well done to all who shot today.
