Coach of of the Year
(sponsored by Aimpoint)

Nominees

Max Tarr Steve Scott Mhairi-Ann

Just WOW! I would like to thank all those that showed their support in nominating me for Coach of the Year for the second time.

My shooting has gone from strength to strength over the last couple of years, through my determination to improve personally which ultimately, has led me to improve my coaching.

From my clients, to the members of the Future Shots Academy, my aim is to encourage and progress shooting across the sport. The acknowledgement of my contribution to the sport means a lot so please don’t forget to vote!

It is an honour to have been nominated for the CPSA coach of the year. I am so glad that the CPSA and the shooting community support coaches and coaching. I have been tremendously fortunate in my shooting career that right from the very start a number of people have supported and helped me develop. From the coach who helped my win Olympic Bronze in Rio, Sheikh Ahmed Al-Maktoum, I learnt so much about shooting and coaching that I now use in my own work. I can’t thank him enough for showing me how to be as a coach and person.

It is because I owe so much to shooting and the people who helped me achieve my goals that I wanted to help others on their development journeys. This year has been immense as so many of the people I have been lucky to work with have achieved so much. Whether it be a personal best, being selected for a team or in the most sublime case becoming Junior World Champion. I have enjoyed every moment of the shared experience of seeing them grow and achieve.

I know this is the same for my fellow nominees and I applaud their work in coaching. Thank you to the CPSA for helping grow coaching within our sport.

In the last twelve months, I’ve continued to grow Dynamic Ladies Shooting Club on my own, with hundreds of women giving it a go. I have gained members of all abilities,  aged from eleven to OAP’s, and some travelling from all over the country for lessons.

The success of the club and the emphasis on making lessons engaging and fun has led to demand for a male group to recently be formed under the DLSC banner (‘lads’, not ‘ladies’!)  I have also been heavily involved with coaching the Women of Westminster, as it's so important to do all we can to have parliament on board with the sport.
